What Is The Painful Lump On The Left Side Of The Jaw Under The Ear?

I have a lump on the left side of my jaw under the ear. It has been there for years and has not bothered me until now. It is the size of a walnut and it is hard. It is starting to be painful. I had it looked at a few years ago and they said it was ok. What should I do and why is this happening?

thanks for your query, i have gone through your query, the painful lump could be because of inflammed lymphnode secondary to infection of the teeth or surrounding structure...or it can be a calcified mass...or it might be some cystic lesion also...you have to consult a oral physician for complete examination...you have to take radiographs like OPG.. i hope my answer will help you..take care..
