Hi,
Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

There is a popular misconception that honey and jaggery are safe in diabetes. But in fact the calorie and carbohydrate content of these is similar to sugar. So maximum permissible per day is 1 teaspoon.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help
With warm regards,

Hi,
Welcome to HCM. Thanks for posting questions.

There is a misconception that jaggery and honey are good for diabetes. But in fact the calorie and carbohydrate content is similar to that of sugar. So intake has to be restricted to 5grams per day.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help

General & Family Physician Dr. Rakesh Sharma's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to HCM
I am Dr Rakesh Sharma answering your query.
I can understand your concern.
Jaggery also contains sugar but it is complex and releases slowly.
The amount you have to take depends on you present blood sugar and the medicines you are taking.
If you are taking it daily and your sugar is under control then it will not harm you.
Hope this suggestion will help you.
Good Luck.
