Hi Dr. Grief, I am writing a paper for one of my health classes. I need to talk about the the larynx and all structures that are involved, one of which is the pharynx. I ve searched my textbook, the internet, and even attempted to email my teacher but he has yet to answer me. What is the pharynx and it s function?

It is a main organ for digestion of food and respiratory pathway as well. It helps in food movement from mouth to esophagus with the help of peristaltic movements as well. For respiration purpose it help in passage of air from mouth to larynx and helps in breathing. any infection and impairment in its function hamper digestion of food and causes respiratory tract infection.
