What Is The Piece Of Skin That Came Out While Blowing Nose?

I've had a cold for about the last 10 days. My right cheek bone has been hurting even to the touch for about 3 of those days. Yesterday when I blew my nose, what looked like a piece of skin came out! It's about 1/8 in. thick, dime sized & most of the pain went away. What could it be? And how urgent is it that I get to a doctor?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems you had a cold along with sinus infection that
is leading to pain in cheek bone and the piece of skin that you are experiencing to have came out can be either a thick blob of mucous or can also be a nasal polyp that has detached from the nostril due to vigorous sniffing..

I would suggest you not to worry as there seems nothing serious and you can do saline nasal irrigations, steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room..
In case if the problem still persists you can consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can advise you a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkillers, decongestants like Phenylephrine along with steroid and decongestant nasal sprays..
