What Is The Procedure For The Treatment Of Biliary Atresia In Children ?
sir my female child is affected by biliary atresia . Now she is two years old. she was operated KASAI on june 2009. but he is not recovered and her stomach was enlarging mega size day to day then is not able to sitting, speaking and breathing. please give me a suggestion to save her life.
hello bijus,
Whether or not the Kasai procedure is performed, supportive medical treatment measures consist of vitamin and caloric support (vitamins A, D, K, and E and formulas containing medium-chain triglycerides.
bacterial infections (eg, ascending cholangitis) should be treated promptly with broad-spectrum antibiotics, and any bleeding tendency should be corrected with intramuscular vitamin K.
surgical intervention is the only therapy available loke kasai or liver transplantation .even if kasai method is successful, within years most of the children need liver transplantation.
Sir, I am giving the medicines to her detailed below :
1. zincovit 5ml twice daily,
2. liv52 syrup twice daily,
3. gardenal syrup 3.5ml twice daily,
4. vitamin K injection 0.2ml once in monthly and
now i am giving Bactoclav syrup 5ml twice daily for 3 days.
shall i give any medicine to her please give me an advice.
