What Is The Prognosis For Low Grade Astrocytoma?

I am 48 years old and after long periods of problems in which resulted in me being admitted into the hospital where my Neurologist found a few days later a tumor. I had the tumor removed in 1999 which was a low grade astrocytoma. In 2011 things got so severe for me and I woke up continuing to have further problems with my vision. I went to specialist and found out the tumor was back, but thank God still low grade. Now I have survived 15 years total. I have read that the life expectancy is 3 to 5 years. I am confused. Can you please advise.

Neurologist 's  Response
Dear
I am sorry for the symptoms you have suffered
Fortunately low grade astrocitomas are the most benign tumors in the family of malign tumors
Life expectancy is much longer than 5 years so you may have misunderstood
Schedule periodic brain CT scan or much better brain MR (one each year)
Stay healthy
Best regards
