What Is The Prognosis If Diagnosed With Terminal Cancer Metastasized To Lungs And Back?
Good Day.
A friend of my was diagnose with terminal cancer. The doctor said the cancer spread very quick. It is being tetected in the left side of the brain and behind the left eye. It is also in her lungs and back. Can it be cured or stopped and how long will she live.
Very sorry to hear about your friend's illness. You have not mentioned the site and type of primary cancer which has now spread (metastasized) to other parts of the body. It is stage 4 disease. Stage 4 cancer is generally not curable (other than in few cases like lymphoma) with dismal prognosis and limited survival. The intent of treatment is palliative that is to improve quality of life and provide symptomatic relief. Palliative treatment measures include radiation therapy, palliative chemotherapy or palliative surgical procedures (if required). I would be better able to comment on the expected survival if I know the type of primary cancer, the existing performance status of the patient and the treatment being received by the patient. I hope it helps. I would be happy to answer any further query, if any.
