What Is The Prognosis Of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy?

My husband has PSP and I am wondering how long he can live with this. He is 75 and was diagnosed with Parkinson s four years ago which was probably a couple of years later than he should have been. He was diagnosed with PSP about 9 months ago and I have seen a decline in just the past 6 months. I would like to know what I am facing as his care giver (his spouse).

Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this-

1)Do a clinical examination by your neurologist and do MRI to know current status of the PSP and treatment is supportive only as there is no cure at all.
2)As there is no cure for it so prognosis is very poor

Do follow few lifestyle modifications like this -

1)Use eye drops to help ease dry eyes that can occur as a result of problems with blinking or persistent tearing.

2)Install grab bars in hallways and bathrooms, to help you avoid falls and Use a walker that is weighted, to help you avoid falls.

3)Remove scatter rugs or other items that are hard to see without looking downward.

4)Try to avoid climbing stairs.

Hope that helps
