What Is The Prognosis On Post Sigmoidectomy?
A close friend is going to have a sigmoidectomy soon Am concerned about her post-op care after she s released from hospital ( U of Penn). Family members, sister and daughter, are coming to stay with her, but I m uncomfortable with their lack of knowledge. My father was a head and neck surgeon, I ve worked in hospitals, etc., but am concerned, since I don t know much about abdominal surgery, - effect on abdominal muscles, healing time.. can t think of all the questions I may have.

I really appreciate your concern, the only matter of concern in surgical case is to take care of infection although it is depends upon what type of surgery done, what ever the abdominal surgery done it takes seven to ten days for healing but may vary if other illness are there like diabetes, weak immune subsystem, old age, pre-existing major illness like malignancy, hope this information helps.
