What Is The Pulsating Feeling In The Nose After An Injury?

About a month ago I had some nose trama a child kicked me in the face, luckly I had sunglasses on to lessen the blow. I went to the doctor had x-rays and everything was ok. However he was concerned that it never bled after the trama so he refered me to an EMT and to check that and make sure i didnt have a devated septum. Everything was ok but now a month later my nose feel like its pulsating, which is really playing with my head I dont no if it the weather but it does worry me a bit.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history of a nasal trauma by a kick of a child about a month back, no bleeding hence referred to the ENT Surgeon, now getting pulsating symptoms.
With the history that you have provided the commonest causes I can think about are as follows:
Development of a arterio-venous fistula that develops after such trauma is a known cause, takes time after primary injury. And due to arterial supply is raised there is increased blood supply and feeling of pulsations.
Hematoma formation and in stage of resolution or organization.
This can be solved by the following ways:
Nasal Endoscopy after preparation can show.
CT or MRI angiography of the area helps further.
The treatment will obviously be as per the cause found.
Also get checked for thyroid and diabetes.
Search for hypertension is also needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
