Hi. Thanks for writing in to HCM.
Seems to be folliculitis/Razor bumps.
Razor bumps can be a troublesome problem anywhere at the site of shaving e.g Beard and moustache in males. It can also happen in the pubic area.
Predisposing factors:
>Shaving the hair too closely, so that when the hair regrows it curls back on to itself and enters the skin with its sharp edge created by shaving.
>Shaving against the grain.
>Shaving without properly softening the hair with shaving cream, gels.
I would suggest that you
consult a dermatologist. He might feel the need to start you on a corse of
oral antibiotics for a week to resolve the infection.
Apply a topical antibacterial cream like
mupirocin twice daily for 7 days.
General measures:
>Avoid shaving too closely
>Shave with the grain
>Soften the hair with a wet washcloth soaked in warm water so as to make the hairs soft Or you can use a shaving cream/foam Or shave the area after showering with warm water which would make the hairs soft.
take care
