What Is The Recovery Time For Meningitis?

My brother is 32 yrs old and a patient of Ataxia telangiectasia. He has fever since last 3+ weeks and has been diagonosed with meningitis. Though his fever has come down today to 99 degrees but he has lost trouble with his speech. How long does it take to cure this problem and will he be absolutely fine or will he have some post treatment complications??? Plz advice!
