What Is The Remedy For Constipation When On Fostitol?
my son is 2year 3months he is suffering from constipation. doctor has prescribed fostitol. i am giving him the medicine for 5days twice daily. still he is not doing potty. what should i do. he wants to potty but is not able to...pls help...schakraborty
Fostitol is a laxative, usually prescribed to ease bowel movements. Please bare in mind that Fostitol will not do miracles.
Constipation should also be treated with: - dietary changes (encourage your child to have more foods high in fiber, drink more water) - get a culture of feces for candida or intestinal parasites which are also associated with changes in bowel movements - give him frequent meals
Do not force him to pass the stool. Getting panicked that he is not doing potty can also stop his bowel movements (a psychological effect).
Some children get it difficult to do potty, however, they are still considered healthy children (as your child too).
All the best! Dr.Albana
