What Is The Remedy For Diarrhea When On Augmentin?
Hello Doctor. I have a sinus infection that also went to my ear. I was prescribed generic augmentin. I am having severe diarrhea. Everything I eat or drink causes immediate diarrhea. I understand that this is a normal side effect. I did not want to stop taking meds, for fear of infection returning. I have 4 days left of augmentin. Should I just tough it out or switch to different meds?
Most often, antibiotic-associated diarrhea is mild and clears up shortly after you stop taking the antibiotic. For most people, antibiotic-associated diarrhea causes mild signs and symptoms, such as: Loose stools More-frequent bowel movements If you have mild diarrhea, your symptoms may clear up within a few days after your antibiotic treatment ends. In some cases your doctor may advise you to stop your antibiotic therapy until your diarrhea subsides. Eating yogurt or taking a so-called probiotic (Tab sporolac 1-1-1 or Tab nutrolin b plus 1-0-1) may help in reducing the severity of diarrhea associated with antibiotic intake. Drink lots of fluids. But do remember to complete course of antibiotic treatment
