What Is The Remedy For Knee Pain After A Knee Injury?

Although I cross my legs all the time, I work out regularly, etc. but whenever I sit on my knees or cross my legs it gets sore within a minute, especially knees (ouchy!). Now, I don t have insurance so I can t se a doctor about this, I ve always seemed to have joint issues but about a year or so ago I got in a pretty bad skate boarding accident and the worst road burn the doctor had ever seen plus flesh torn off on both knees and both elbows. But on my left knee I had extra fluids in there and the doctor said to come back in in 2 weeks to see if he needed to surgically remove the fluid but I never went back. I still have problems with pain with it today but could that even be because of fluid or because it s just damaged in general? I appreciate all the help. :) Thanks, Doc!

Hello,
Thanks for your query.

The pain that you have is likely to be due to a muscle sprain or a muscle fibers tear due to an injury . Since the pain is persistent for last couple of weeks it needs to be investigated. MRI scan is the investigation of choice to detect any such soft tissue abnormalities.
In the meanwhile, for symptomatic relief:
1. Give enough rest to your hand and arm muscle.
2. Take mild pain killers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
3. Stronger prescription NSAIDS with muscle relaxants may help if simple analgesics do not help.
4. Hot compresses to your knee will be useful pain relieving measure. You may apply a local analgesic gel on that area.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
