What Is The Remedy For Pain In The Implant Area After Bypass Surgery?

Had icd implant 6 months after bypass surgery. Have constant pain in the implant area, sometimes just gnawing ache and other times real pain. Have been to GP, cardiologist, and surgeon. Have never had any peace from it. Icd was checked and have been told that all is good. Can t live this way, need help. Where do I go from here?

Dear patient,

Thanks for the query. If it is pain in the pocket site or around, I would get the opinion of another EP doctor or a CV surgeon, to see if exploration of the pocket is reasonable, to rule out infection, foreign body reaction, etc.

The other thing is to ask your physicians if you need the ICD; many times after bypass your heart function recovers and you then dont meet the original criteria for prevention with ICD.

I agree, when the medicine is worse than the disease, something needs to be done.
