What Is The Remedy For Pimple Like Spots On The Lip And Chin When On Hydrocortisone?
My almost 7 year old son woke up Monday with three pimply looking spots inter his nose one on his lip and 3 on his chin. He said they didn't hurt or itch so I put hydrocortisone on them and left them alone. They looked like they were drying up by Tuesday and they had not spread at all so I reapplied the hydrocortisone and sent him to school. By Wednesday the one on his lip appeared to be bigger and slightly greenish and he is now saying they hurt. The other spots seem to have whitish stuff in them almost like a pimple some of the time but then other times they are just red. Do you have any ideas what this could be? He takes allergy medicine everyday and has not had any changes to his diet. Thank you so much for your help.
Seems to be a case of bacterial infection (impetigo) from the beginning and hydrocortisone wont help.
In such a case if i was the treating doctor i would have put him on oral antibiotics (penicillin group) for a week.
A topical antibacterial ointment e.g 2% mupirocin twice daily would help in faster resolution.
take care regards
