What Is The Remedy For The Ectopic Beats Of The Heart?

I get ectopic beats and have been tested many times over the last 7 or 8 years as benign. I occasionally get 5 or superfast beats which are the ones that really bother me. The cardiologist said try not to worry too much as they are considered benign but it is discincerting

Thanks for writing to us.
Your cardiologist is right in telling you that most of the ectopic beats are benign. We do ECHO in all patients who are symptomatic for ectopic beats and look for structural heart disease. If there is none, patients are advised to avoid any precipitants like coffee, tea, smoking etc and at times prescribe single drug therapy like beta blockers.
Discuss drug therapy with your cardiologist.
