Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
one of my friend she is diabetic and was taking hopace 2.5mg OD daily....few days back he developed sudden cough with exertion and lead to weezing sound and once his Blood pressure came to 140/100... and doctor put him on Tab. Telma 20mg HS OD...i want to know the role of this drug.
Telma is less likely to cause dry cough. Hopace (ramipril) is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACEs) inhibitor commonly prescribed for the treatment of hypertension. Based on the history you seem to have developed dry cough and wheezing apparently caused by the blood pressure lowering medication Hopace. Hence, his doctor advised him to take Telma which is equally effective to control his high blood pressure and less likely to cause dry cough and wheezing.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
