Hi, I'm 28 years old having a child by surgery. I got copper t inserted since june'11. During insertion doctor asked me to come on third period's fifth day. Now i've to be checked for position of copper t. But, we have changed our work place and not able to find lady gynecologist. Is it possible to do the self checking? if yes, what is the procedure? Please tell me your valuable suggestions.
Usually it's better to check the IUD every day to make sure about its proper positioning. One can follow the below steps: - Proper washing of hands before checking - Sit in the squatting position - Insert your index and middle finger into vagina up to the cervix - Feel for the IUD strings
If the strings are felt, no more action is needed and if the strings are longer than usual or not felt, then the IUD might have shifted where you need the help of a gynaecologist for further assistance.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Yes, you can self check cu-t just by feeling threat of cu-t at around the opening of vagina. if you are able to find it is good, if not try little high, still not go to gynaecology. It may not be displaced just thread be wrinkled up so no need to worry. You should regularly check cu-t thread.
