What Is The Solution For Haemoglobin Deficiency In Case Of Bone Fracture?
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... my fathers age is 70.He had a back bone fracture a year back He has a haemoglobin deficiency and a 350 ml blood is given to him. Now he is getting blood in motions(less amount) What is the reason???
I am sorry to hear about your Father who is having problems with anemia requiring blood transfusions. Anemia that is significant enough to require transfusion requires additional testing to determine the cause of the anemia. One of the more common types of anemia is blood loss anemia from a GI source either from gastritis, ulcers or colon diseases like diverticulitis or even cancer of the colon. I recommend in all my patients who come in for anemia that they undergo upper and lower GI studies either scopes or radiological studies.
Another cause of anemia is lack of bone marrow production. This along with his recent fracture of the back bone maybe associated with a growth of abnormal cells in the bone marrow. I recommend that he get additional blood tests and x rays. He may need a bone marrow biopsy from a hematologist/ oncologist.
What ever the cause I do believe he needs additional testing and evaluation to determine the full cause of his anemia.
