What Is The Suggested Face Mask For Emphysema And Breathing Difficulty?
My doctor says that my air is trapped in air pockets in my lungs, I have emphasima, stage 3 I think, and that their is a face mask I can wear at night, sometimes, that then will help me get air in my lungs. I m now on onygen 24/7 and even thou I register 97% ony in lungs, I still huff n puff and have difficulty breathing. What is the name of the face mask and where can I get it?
This face mask is either called CPAP or BiPAP. BiPAP means bilevel positive airway pressure and CPAP means continuous positive airway pressure. These are masks that you wear at night that blow air into your chest and keep the airways open. Bipap helps if you have trouble with the build-up of carbon dioxide, and CPAP helps more if your oxygen is low. Other people wear CPAP for obstructive sleep apnea. You can get these machines paid for by your insurance company if your doctor writes a prescription for them. They are especially helpful if your oxygen saturation drops at night.
