HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Chronic cough has 3 main causes : (1) post nasal drip- this is the most common cause. Some persons may not detect the drip at the back of the throat and may only have the cough.

It is treated with the use of topical steroid nasal sprays and antihistamines. If the source of the allergic response can be determined, it should be avoided if possible.

(2)asthma- this is also a cause of persistent coughing
(3)GERD (gastroesophageal reflux)- coughing is one of the presentations of reflux.
Lifestyle changes and medications are helpful.

Based on your history, you may want to use the topical steroid nasal sprays and antihistamines.

I hope this helps
