What Is The Superiority Of Cilnidipine Over Amlodipine?

Dear Dr! What is the superiority of Cilnidipine over amlodipine? I am a diabetic with hypertension & was taking Vlasartan+Amlodipine. Recently my Dr. switched me over to Valsartan + Cilnidipine but I have not started taking this medicine. Kindly advise. Thanks A lot. Jamal

Both Amlodipine and Cilnidipine are calcium channel blockers commonly used to treat high blood blood pressure either alone or with other drugs.
They have equal efficacy in reducing high blood pressure however, Cilnidipine is associated with lower incidence of pedal (ankle) edema compared Amlodipine. Hence Clinidipine may be taken as prescribed by your doctor.
