Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 65 years old and have enjoyed good health. In the last three months I have had pain in my left foot about midway on the outside edge of the foot and i am getting some significant swelling that rreduces when my foot is elevated but returns when I am vertical. I am on Adalat for hypertension and have been for about 6 years. The doctor had me try olmetec but I did have reactions that were prohibitive so I quit taking it. I tried it for theree weeks and have been off for one week
Painful foot with swelling could be a result of a stress fracture of one of the foot bones. Certain medication can cause swelling in the feet but usually to both and not with just one and also not associated with pain. If I were your doctor I would recommend getting x rays to rule out a stress fracture.
I hope this answers your question. if you have any further questions please contact us again.
