What Is The Tendency To Develop Diabetes In Future?

Dr pl advise I am not a diabetic patient fasting is around 100 nd little high triglysorides that s it I am suffering pigmentations it is growing after taking treatment for skin not able to get rid of it now dr has given me glycomet sr 500 I am scared to HIV this medicine . Will I develope diabetes in long run after taking this med? Pl advise regards

Metformin is a very safe tablet (Glycomet). It will actually make your body more responsive to insulin so the speed of progression diabetes will be slowed down. I would suggest you to first get a Glucose tolerance test done to know the sugar status. Since you said your fasting is around 100 you may be completely normal or in prediabetic stage. Even if you are in prediabetic stage you need not always take metformin. this stage can be managed by weight loss, diet and exercise. So please do the test and get back.
