What Is The Thick White Discharge?

I have been taking flagyl and bacterium Ds along with probiotic acidophilus, since last Monday, I was wondering what is causing the thick white discharge I have had for the past few days. Also for the past two months I have only stpotted due to pcos so not exactly sure when my start date is. What could this be? Also no itching or burning

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Thick curdy white discharge usually denotes a vaginal infection caused by candida which is a yeast. Itching may or may not be present in this condition.

Anti-fungal drugs such as fluconazole or clotrimazole should be taken for about 5 days. Topical anti-fungal creams can also be used. Vaginal hygiene and pH should be maintained.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
