Hi. I have a fever for more than 2 weeks. Doctors diagnosed at start as pneumonia and gave me antibiotics for it. After 10 days of antibiotics i did a chest CT scan and the results were clear from all. Yet i still suffer from some sort of hectic fever with lower occurrence than before. Temp rises to 38.5 and i have both cold chills and sweats. I am a 39 Y male. Stopped smoking since 3 years. Wasn't a heavy smoker anyways. Can you please advise?
Hello You were having fever for more than 2 weeks , diagnosed a patient of pneumonia , took treatment ( antibiotics ) , improved , pneumonia resolved in C T Scan. The cause of concern is still fever , present with chills and sweats, these symptoms may be due to these possibilities, these include; 1 Tuberculosis , pulmonary tuberculosis is the most prominent cause of suhc symptoms , as I have noted in so many patient that these symptoms are due to tuberculosis in long standing cases. Diagnosis can be confirmed by repeat X ray , blood for C B C & E SR . 2 Pneumonia not resolved , this is one such cause , again get in one repeat X ray of chest for confirmation. So in my opinion consult Pulmonologist and get his opinion. Good luck.
