my father has had a rash in the crack of his butt for several years. he also has psoriasis so the rash was treated for that. he received a diagnosis from a Dr last week that it is malignant. My father said that Dr called it Pajet? I am unable to find this on-line. My father has dementia and may not be giving me the right name for it. Can you help with a direction I can search on-line to familiarize myself with it prior to his follow up visit on Monday?
hello and welcome to HCM before commenting on the diagnosis, I hope the skin has been biopsied and then the diagnosis confirmed. The diagnosis given would have been that of Paget's disease of the skin, involving the skin around the anus which is a common location of this disease. It would also be necessary to examine the full extent of the growth and whether it extends internally into the tissue or anal area with scopy or scans as required. This would require immediate and extensive treatment as would be advised by your dermatologist on follow, possibly referring you to a surgeon/oncosurgeon who will advise you regarding treatment options. Also do mention to any new doctor, the presence of psoriasis, dementia and any other medical conditions, symptoms and treatment he is on. Check for any other lesions else where. Hope this helps you.
