What Is The Treatment For Acute Bronchitis?

Good morning sir, mad merri Christmas to you and familly. My son is in ca. For school I am in ga. He was hospitalized two days ago just before his flight to come home .for breathing problem. He is diognised with accute bronchitis . What I should advise him to do so he can get well soon and join his familly in ga for holiday?

I can understand your concern.
Acute bronchitis is mostly due to infection.
So antibiotics are mainstay of treatment.
Along with antibiotics, patient needs inhaled bronchodilators, inhaled corticosteroid (ICS), mucolytic and expectorant drugs.
Antihistamines are also advised for coughing.
Usually recovery achieved in 2-3 weeks.
But sometimes recovery can be delayed. In this situation patient should continue inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid.
So ask your son to continue inhaled treatment.
