Hi, thanks for asking. If such a child comes in my clinic i would order following assessments for him to rule out ADHD, Oppositional defiance disorder and conduct disorder. I would then start medications and counselling therapy accordingly. Meanwhile I would suggest following things to be done with him. Pre decide the consequences for his lying and stealing behaviour. For example if he steals something then he has to be made to return it. He has to pay for it from his pocket money or he has to do some chores to earn and pay for it. If he lies then he should face withdrawal of rewards like overnight stay at friends or no TV time or No computer time. Also play games with him which require turn taking and positively praise and reward him for waiting and watching others while they take turn. I hoep i have answered your query.
