Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has been diagnosed with bradycardia and has a low heart rate lowest 39 and highest is 101...this was what was learned after he had to wear an ekg monitor for 48 hours. He is now scheduled to go for a cardiogram and then follow up with cardiologist afterward. I am wondering if you can tell me what are possible treatments for this?
Hi, welcome to healthcare magic. I have read your question and understood your concern.
Dropping of heart rate to 39 can be seen even in normal person especially during sleep. Bradycardia is also normal in athelets. So if your husband is not having symptoms like giddiness or fainting or breathlessness and excessive fatique during activities, and the bradycardia is during sleep, i dont think it is a cause for concern.
Normal heart rate or pulse rate ranges from 60 to 100 and anything below 60 is labelled as bradycardia. If the heart rate remains on the lower side without any symptoms then i usually get one thyroid function test, echocardiogram and trademill test done for my patients in addition to 48 hours ekg. If tests are good then all that is required is follow up.
