Accident , meaning I have been having uncontrollable bowel movements.. Has me worried.. Any help,is greatly appreciated
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted that you are 51 years old, had an accident. Now have uncontrollable bowel movements, stringy looking blood in stool and have stains in the underwear. This indicates two possibilities: Infection of intestinal tract or spinal cord injury. I would advise you the following: Get stool tested and relevant blood tests along with ultrasonography of the abdomen. If the infection is present go for a course of an antibiotic and metronidazole along with probiotics and activated charcoal. If required MRI of the spine to see that there is a no problem with spine may be required if suspected on clinical evaluation.
