What Is The Treatment For Dehydration Due To Vomiting?

Hi Dr!
When I am dehydrated I can't tolerate any kind of fluids, about 30 minutes after I drink something I start throwing it up. I slowly drink the fluids, 1 sip every five minutes, but it still doesn't help. Last time this happened I ended up in a hospital, but I don't want that to happen again, what can I do?

Hi,
you can use antiemetics such as phenergan as soon as you know you won't be able to tolerate and see if that makes any difference. If it does not and you still keep throwing up despite using clear water or gaterode then the only way is to get IV fluids in the hospital setting. I would suggest keep yourself hydrated so that you don't run into dehydration state and the nausea that you develop along with that.
I hope this information helps. Thank you for asking question on healthcare Magic.
