What Is The Treatment For Difficulty In Breathing?

My husband he is 62 years old never really had any big health issuers can not sleep and wakes up breathing heavy like he can't catch his breath it's been napping.for 3weeks now it seem that last night was worse with the breathing also he is stressing about it he is not one to see a doctor only when he has too

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your husband's situation and problem.
By your history and description, in my opinion he is having obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
It is obstruction in the upper airways in sleep (supine position) which causes breathing difficulty and abrupt waking up.
Causes for OSA are
1. Large tongue
2. Englarged tonsils or adenoids.
3. Mandibular problems.
4. Excess fat in neck etc.
So better to consult Sleep specialist and get done full sleep study for the diagnosis of OSA.
Treatment is based on cause.
