What Is The Treatment For Disordered Proliferative Endometrium?
Hi there My mother is 58yrs old . She is in peri menopause phase. She did endometrium biopsy due to thick endometrium , her endometrium is 12 mm in size . In biopsy they mention disordered poliferative endometrium.may I know what is best option for her
well, for a perimenopausal lady a endometrial thickness of 12m is not healthy and after the biopsy if the result shows that its a disordered proliferative endometrium , it means that there are irregular estrogen spikes or unopposed estrogen release not countered by progesterone.
you have not mentioned if she had any episodes of spotting or post menopausal bleeding for which she was investigated. disoredered endometrium is a risk factor for endometrial cancer in future.
ou have two options , best would be to contemplate hysterectomy and is she doesnt agree then she can be placed on progesterones for 3 months and watched again with a repeat endometrial biopsy after the 4 th month.
if the changes persist or worsens hysterectomy needs to be done then . regards, dr.sameer kumar for direct query:- http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-sameer-kumar/68814
