What Is The Treatment For Enlarged Uterine Fibroid?

hello i was diagnosed last year and reconfirmed two months ago with two enlarged fibroids....i m 47 and have been put on progesterone after hormone testing...i ve been bleeding for 2 months now although it slowed down a few times to just spotting. Last week I think i had my regular period..not terrible but longer than usual. Then I had to fly for a family event, and have now been bleeding with super heavy clots...changing tampons/pads twice per hour and clothes changes at least 2x or more per day...is it possible that the flying has made the bleeding/clots worse? i have an appt on friday for an intravaginal sonogram...

Hi,
thanks for writing..
Its appropriate decision to get a scan done. If the fibroid size is greater than 5 cm protruding into the uterine cavity, it would be better to get it removed, either myomectomy or hysterectomy depending on your age and parity. There is greater chance of anemia also. get Hb tested. hope I have answered your query. good day
