What Is The Treatment For Large Dark Brown Scars On Both The Legs?

I have large dark brown scars on both my legs due to erythema nodosom(from an allergy to Bactrim) which I had several times about 7 years ago. These scars are also extremely painful if pressed gently. They are so horrible looking. People, including doctors, think they are bruises &ask how I got them. It s so embarrassing. Is there any way to get rid of these scars?

Hi.
As per your case history of dark scars, my treatment advice is -
1. Scars take a long time to heal depending upon size and location.
2. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain.
3. Apply a tretinoin 0.025 % cream once at night on scars and take a Vitamin E 400mg capsule once daily.
4. Other treatment options are Dermabrasion, laser resurfacing done by a dermatologist.

Thanks.
