Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my primary physician suspects a medial meniscus tear. it catches from time to time but doesnt lock. I can walk, but any exercise makes it very painful to where it keeps me up at night for 3-4 days until nsaids kick in. just started new job and it s difficult to get off for MRI. Question is: am i doing further damage by waiting for possible meniscectomy?
Hello, I have studied your case and i will advise you to get menisectomy as soon as possible.I have two reason behind that. 1.Whenever this knee get locked there is emergency and some time locking can remain for long time and you might need emergency surgery. 2. If this knee is not get operated in time than this tear is progressing and extent of surgery is increasing. so avoid squatting and sitting cross leg. I would suggest you to get this surgery as soon as possible. Let me know if there is any other followup questions. thanks
