What Is The Treatment For Mild Tachycardia With Normal Ekg And Cardiac Labs?

Hello Doctor- I am needing some medical advice. I am currently having some problems related to blood pressure and overall ill feeling. My blood pressure skyrocketed this last week and I did go to the family doctor. My EKG and cardiac labs were normal. I work in the medical field and when this came about, I was able to hook myself up to a cardiac monitor. I noticed mild tachycardia (115) but other than that had a sinus rhythm with normal looking ST segments. The doctor decided to put me on a higher dose blood pressure medicine and have been on it for 2 days now. My blood pressure has come down but I still feel really rotten. My heart will race at certain times throughout the day, I get nauseated and feel full constantly. After I eat something this seems to worsen. I just have this feeling that still something is wrong that is being missed. I have never felt like this and just simply don't like the way I feel currently. Is this something you feel you could help me explore and determine where to go from here? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Rick W. Johnson

Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

Tachycardia may be due to anti-hypertensive drugs, acute anxiety/mental stress or hyperthyroidism.

Ask your doctor to add/increase the dose of Beta-blockers, which will reduce the heart rate.

If have mental stress/chronic anxiety, anti-depressant + anti-anxiety drugs will curb your anxiety and keep it under check.

Get Thyroid hormonal test done to rule out/diagnose hyperthyroidism.

PPIs + metoclopramide will relieve your abdominal symptoms.

Consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me, order required tests, and- based on the reports- will prescribe suitable/modified treatment as advised.
