What Is The Treatment For Osteoarthritis In The Facet Joint?

I have osteoarthritis in the facets in the lumbar region. For months now I have had very bad pain in my right groin where the abdomen meets the leg. The pain radiates down my front thigh and I cannot put weight on my leg. Could this pain be related to the back problem?

Hello,
Thanks for your query.

It seems you are suffering from degenerative spine disease & it occurs due to repetitive overload or stress to the disc & it increases the risk of disc herniation & spinal canal stenosis.
The main treatment of such pain is bed rest along with pain killers and muscle relaxants. Muscle relaxants can help with your symptoms if used in appropriate dosage in combination with a potent analgesic.
You can get the appropriate drugs prescribed from your Orthopedician after examination.

For this condition you have to do stretching & strengthening exercises in which you have to stretch tight muscle & strengthen weakened ones which will alleviate stress on facet joint and disc.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care

Hi,Welcome to healthcare magic. After going through your query I think You are already having osteoarthritis in the facets in the lumbar region .For months now you have had very bad pain in your right groin where the abdomen meets the leg. The pain radiates down your front thigh and you cannot put weight on your leg. By this I suspect that you also have problem in your right hip ( MAY BE FRACTURE NECK OF FEMUR) so please got x-ray of your right hip AP AND LATERAL VIEW done to exclude it . I think your query answered.Welcome to any follow up query.
