What Is The Treatment For Pain In The Waist And Stomach?
I have pain on my right side about the waistline. It also hurts on my right side in my stomach area. I thought I had a bladder infection and my doctor prescribed Sulfamethoxazole - tmp 160mg for 10 days. It seemed to relieve it, but the pain perists. Thanks, Nancy
The cause of the pain above the waistline on the right side has to be diagnosed on physical examination by a Surgeon and diagnostic tests undertaken to prove or to rule out the probable causes.
The probable causes are: Right kidney infection / impacted stone in pelvi-ureteric junction. Gall bladder stones and / or infection. Liver pathology. Colitis on the right side. Appendicitis particularly in retro-cecal position. and so on.
I would advise you the following Get the blood , urine and stool tests done. Ultrasonography as a preliminary survey to find the cause. CT scan of the abdomen and other investigations to confirm.
Take a proper course of an antibiotic, metronidazole and symptomatic treatment . You may need an additional antibiotic with the Sulfamethoxazole.
