Hi,

Thanks for the query.

Please do not worry as this is a very common problem in today's world. It is attributed to hormonal disturbances that may arise from any cause.

Weight loss is a very slow and tiring as well as demanding process. It takes days to put on weight and years to loose. So you must encourage her to stick to her weight loss regimen, join a gym and have a fitness trainer to help her keep up her enthusiasm. Remember that the initial few kilos are lost quickly and then weight decreases very slowly. So just stick to the regimen.

The disease is not dangerous in the short term. It does cause some complications in the long term and mostly causes difficulties in getting pregnancies as it does not allow the release of ova [ovulation]. These can be dealt with by using drugs when the need arises. So do not worry.

Regarding baldness, it indicates that the most likely defect is in male related sex hormones normally found in small quantities in females. I suggest you get a PCOD hormonal profile done on day 3 of menses and consult an endocrinologist or gynecologist for future treatment.

Hope I was able to help you. Thanks for using Health Care Magic.
I would be happy to answer any further queries.
Have a nice day.
