For modern treatment vit d 400 - 800 IU daily is to be maintained and adequate sulight.

If you think beyond that, Ayurveda's rich calcium medicines such as Prawal pishti, kapardika bhasm, Mukta Pishti, Sitopaladi herbal powder, kumarkalyan RAS , Giloy satv , prawal panchamrit, etc. not only provide rich calcium and vit d but also help in absorbing nutrients by correction of metabolism. The ratios are set according to present condition of the child. Duration of treatment is generally long. Some liquids like ARVINDASAV etc are also directed to be given. Soup of bones/ joints of mammals like sheep and goats are traditionally given in South Asian countries esp India and Pakistan, Bangladesh. This is called kharora soup' in local North Indian language and is rich source of calcium and vit d. Cod liver oil is another source. Fatty fish, mushrooms, beef liver are excellent sources.

Selection should be as per clinical presentation and could be everything of above or partial combos.
