What Is The Treatment For Red Spots In The Penis And Glans?

A few days ago, I noticed a many tiny red spots on my glans. I don t know if they are anywhere else on my glans, because my foreskin is attached to my penile head. It does not hurt, but it s itchy sometimes (I don t know if it s the red spots that itches, or not). I m uncircumcised and the red spots are barely visible, but you can see that the glans is red. And now what my concerns are is that is this common and what do I do to get rid of it? There s also not only tiny dots, there s an area that is in the same red color and a red stripe which is just a few millimeters long. It seems like it s only around the visible area of glans. Could this be caused by irritation when the penile head gets in contact with my underpants? Or could it be that I changed my shower gel a few weeks ago?

Hello,

Red spots, rash or swelling of the glans is indicative of infection. If sexually active and you have been doing unprotected penetrative sex then you are exposed to infection. It can be yeast infection or sexually transmitted infection. Get STD tests done to be on the safer side.

If tests are positive, then you will be treated with antibiotics and antivirals. Topically you will have to apply acyclovir ointment for relieve. In case of yeast infection, take a course of antifungal medicine orally and apply ointment clotrimazole on the affected area for relief.

Be careful, not to hurt the area affected due to the rubbing against your pants. Wear loose fitting cotton clothes. Stay away from any type of sexual activity for a couple of days. Give yourself time to heal.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
