What Is The Treatment For Ruptured Eardrum?

My question is this, I went to the ER about 3 weeks ago for what felt like a ruptured ear drum. The doctor on duty looked in my ear and said the infection was too bad to see my ear drum so she couldn't tell if it was ruptured. I took 2 weeks of Amoxacillin and it didn't get better. Still couldn't hear and still hurt. My ear earlier tonight felt like it was draining, and even though I shouldn't I Q-tipped it. What came out looked like a thick layer of tannish colored skin. Do you know what that could be?
