treatment of severe gastroenteritis is correction and prevention of dehydration ,
if serum potassium is low or clinical indication of Hypokalemia , potassium can be added in IV fluid ( replacement fluid not in bolus fluid), provided kidney function is OK ( it is up to treating doctor to decide )
