What Is The Treatment For Sexual Side Effects Due To Anti- Depressants?

Hi, I have been taking anti-depressents for Anxiety and know they have sexual side effects but they side affects have increased my sexual desire greatly and now it won t go away to point it is painful to have this feeling in me. I have told my doctor and he said it is probably not related to the medication and is just a coincindence. What ways can I fix this urge? Any medication etc?

Hi,

Antidepressants usually cause sexual dysfunction in the form of loss of libido (low sexual drive) or erectile dysfunction.Increased sexual drive is usually not seen.

You can consider going off the antidepressants for a few weeks after discussing with your doctor. If that is a possibility, you can determine whether any changes in the sexual desire can be determined. Other options are always have sex before taking the drug or switch to a newer antidepressant.
