What Is The Treatment For Sinus Bradycardia?

My daughter is 13 yrs old and past out while running the 800m at her track meet. She has always been active with basketball, dance and gymnastc. I took her to the ER and got an unconfirmed diagnosis of SINUS BRADICARDIA. She is being sent to MUSC for farther testing. What other tests are done to confirm this diagnosis, other than EKG? How will this condition affect her if it is confirmed?

Hello,

Sinus bradycardia is a simple slowing of heart rate. In a healthy child, it is non-pathological. It is normally seen in athletes. It usually follows a benign course. You have to test for causes such as hypothyroidism, anorexia nervosa, and hypokalemia. You can also go for Holter monitoring for twenty-four hours.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
