Dear Doctor, My father is 70 yrs old and he has suffered a cerebral attack (3rd time) on 9th May 2011. He has been admitted to the nearby hospital. Till now he in not responding properly and am not at all contented with the treatment he is getting. I want to shift him to your hospital but am thinking how to go about the same
I am not sure what type of therapy you are discontent with, rehabilitation or medical therapy. If you are referring to medical therapy you should understand that apart from thrombolysis/thrombectomy which can be performed only during the first few hours of the onset (so are out of question in your case), there is no proven regenerating therapy for stroke. Stroke means that an area of the brain has been cut out from the blood supply and unless blood flow is restored within the first hours that area dies and unfortunately no treatment can bring those cells back. Medical therapy is limited to treatment of acute complications and prophylactic therapy to prevent stroke recurrences in the future. Regarding his recovery from the present stroke, it's more a question of rehabilitation, physical therapy, rather than drugs.
